The Los Angeles Regional Export Council (LARExC) strives to help businesses in Southern California navigate the public and private resources needed to export their products and services globally. We work to accomplish this aim by mapping out Community Resources and organizing a central Calendar of Events with international trade training and business matching activities.
The California-China Provinces Joint Working Group convenes regularly to work and share experiences; exchange trade and investment information; to promote key projects; to hold an annual seminar on trade and investment cooperation; to expand business opportunities via trade missions and trade fairs; and to promote strategic relations between cities in both China and California.
Access to Capital is one of the largest hurdles for growth and remains at the forefront of our efforts. LARExC introduces programs available through both our state and federal partners while encouraging lenders to consider accounts receivable financing and other alternative methods of export finance that will help Southern California businesses grow globally while hedging risk.
Branding Los Angeles with our Designed & Made in Los Angeles hangtag helps showcase our culture of creativity and ingenuity. LARExC works with LA-based designers and manufacturers to promote the LA brand and desirable lifestyle it represents.
Los Angeles is home to several annual signature international trade business-matching events. By bringing these activities to LA, we facilitate local business matching on a global scale for Southern California businesses here at home.

Exporting Made Easier for Small Businesses
The California State Trade Export Assistance Promotion (STEP) program is combines a network of state, federal, private and non-profit trade promotion organizations in California to facilitate export promotion activities, serving targeted industries, to drive exports for small businesses. STEP is funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
MBA students at UCLA Anderson School of Business and USC IBEAR conduct an extensive international business consulting project for firms seeking to develop their international business. Research includes extensive primary and secondary market analysis, including an in-country study trip for the student team to interview local experts, consumers, customers and government. Companies receive trade leads of potential foreign buyers and partners for international expansion with a rigorous analyses that support recommendations to accelerate your organization’s export strategy.
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) helps companies create U.S. jobs through the export of U.S. goods and services for priority development projects in emerging economies. USTDA links U.S. businesses to export opportunities by funding project planning activities, pilot projects, and reverse trade missions while creating sustainable infrastructure and economic growth in partner countries.
Making Global Local is an initiative designed to connect towns and cities across the country with USTDA’s programs. By building strategic partnerships, USTDA and local business organizations can support the creation of high-paying jobs through the growth of U.S. exports.
